The Pre-K Technology Applications

The Pre-K Technology Applications TEKS are composed of valuable information for the teacher on what the student is expected to know. I think that this foundation plays an extremely important role in the life of the students because he/she is being exposed to technology at the age where everything they learn stays with them. It is amazing how much difference you can see when you get a student that has been exposed to a computer at an early age since this student sees these tools as something normal and knows that he/she will learn all its functions if used continuously and with the instruction of another person. I had the opportunity to work with Pre-K students and we used a curriculum named Waterford which is awesome; the students learned the basic functions of the computer like how to use the mouse and drag objects at the same time they were having fun playing with the animated characters on the program. These students started with my assistance of course and then as they started becoming familiar with the program they were becoming more independent. With this program the students had plenty of opportunities to master the skills being taught and acquire knowledge. After a certain time the students were using the computer to learn other subject areas besides technology.
